City Night source: Sapporo, Japan Feb. 24, 1997 Tracks: Disc one Absolutely Sweet Marie Lay, Lady, Lay All Along The Watchtower Every Grain Of Sand Watching The River Flow Silvio Viola Lee Blues (acoustic) Mr. Tambourine Man (acoustic) Disc two Tangled Up In Blue (acoustic) God Knows Simple Twist Of Fate Highway 61 Revisited encore: Like A Rolling Stone It Ain't Me, Babe (acoustic) Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 Review: This set contains a fine
performance that is let down slightly by the sound quality. The band is
tight for the rocking tracks while soft and tender for the slower
tunes. Every Grain Of Sand and Simple
Twist Of Fate and are as beautiful as ever. The
real bonus here, though, is the cover of Viola Lee Blues.
As for the artwork, it's a rather lazy effort. The back cover photo of Time Out Of Mind
is used on the front, with a less than appealing title font. A quite
unflattering caricature of Dylan with a cup of tea in hand adorns
the back. The show is a prelude of the TOOM Dylan that will
soon emerge. Very focused and very sharp.
Looks and sound-wise, this set
is probably a 7, but the performance is so good that it warrants an
extra half a point. The overall sound is slightly tinny and thin.
