The slimline packages are great, with beautiful close up photos for the front cover, and venue photos on the liner. The glow edge images on the discs themselves don't work, although this particular release includes a close up face shot that translates much better than other discs in this series The newly opened Debaser Medis is much larger than the old Debaser, and perhaps harder to get a good field recording from. While the recording is crisp, the vocals don't com through as well as other Euro recordings. This is a different audience recording than was released earlier by Tambourine Man. It's an individual thing as to which is better. It's mainly an equalization difference. This release is cleaner with more high end clarity, but the vocals are not as far out front. The Tambourine Man release seems a better mix of both instrument and vocal, but it doesn't have the sharpness and clarity of this title. This is a historic show as Dylan returns to electric guitar! Another surprise is getting to hear Country Pie. The Bonus tracks are even better with the gravely voiced Señor perhaps the highlight of the set. © 2008 CD Pinkerton - bobsboots.com |
