Review: By Keith Schweiger
This is a remarkable recording from Thinman only to be outdone by an even more remarkable performance by Dylan and his band. From the start, Dylan is fully committed to the performance; immediately establishing himself as the trusted narrator, and delivering one heartfelt rendition after another. He's so completely immersed in each vocal that it's a wonder that he's able to transition down the set-list and engage each song anew. Forget about trying to single out a standout number; each song has the weight of a highlight that ultimately weaves together a full-bodied performance.  The depth of this show presents itself in the love songs alone. In the breath of a set-list, Dylan captures a lifetime of loves and lovers...  the desperate and hopeful, the scorned and wounded, the passionate and devoted... the jaded and love sick.  This isn't just another side of Bob Dylan we're exposed to, but to an artist who has reinvented himself innumerable times, summoning those genres and periods he's forever marked, to pour into one show.  It's the performances like this one in Washington that cause people to continue to buy tickets and come to see this man after four decades... and thank God, for posterity's sake, some bring along the tape recorders. Needless to say, this title comes highly recommended.
