Particularly nice is the photos of the venues on the liner. As there are two Wembley shows released, April 15 shows it in daylight, this set has a nighttime photo. What a nice touch. Also nicely incorporated is the official, though not well known Motor Co. logo on the insert back. Yet another solid performance, though perhaps a bit lackluster. Oddly enough, John Brown is perhaps the highlight of the two disc set. Bonus tracks are nice. Not Dark Yet is heartfelt with some great harp. Shelter from Columbus is powerful. Eric Clapton made a surprise walk on appearance at this venue and jammed with opening act Jimmie Vaughn. Also, I'll share with you an interesting anecdote about the show. © 2008 CD

The
Fake Monitor Anecdote by CD Pinkerton - bobsboots.com At the Cooper Stadium show in Columbus, Ohio on August 13, 2006, there was a huge 2 x 4 monitor placed stage left at the very front of the stage. It was not wired up, and wouldn't be for the entire show. It was blocking a large and particular audience view of Bob. I asked Al Santos if it could be moved a little in one direction, and our conversation followed like this: Al: "No, Bob wants it there" Me: "But, it's not hooked up" Al: "That's right" Me: "So, all that's happening here is that the audience view is being blocked by a monitor that's not even going to be used" Al: "You got it" Me: "No, I don't..." Al: "Ok, think about it... it's not being used, but it's blocking a certain view of Bob, ... and Bob wants it there..." Me: "A-a-a-a-a-a-a...." Al: "Now ya got it!" Me: "Now I got it" The view would have been looking at a three quarter body shot from slightly behind Bob's left side and directly at the keys of the electric piano. Obviously, a pair of field glasses from further back in the crowed could have afforded the view, but that would have been a long shot happening. The fake monitor effectively blocked the view of that angle from scores of people. As to what exactly Bob wasn't wanting viewed.... He can reveal that if and when he's ready. Just a cute and interesting slice into a behind the scene look at the concert that I thought you might enjoy. © 2008 CD Pinkerton - bobsboots.com |
